Jong-sin "Yoñi" Hu (Gohangukian Hu Jong-sin [후종신 hanja 后鍾信] - born 1983, Jangmi-si, CC) is an Ardispherian footballer considered one of the best of his generation. He has been captain of the Ardispherian national team, but currently he plays for Säntjana Linna FC in Karolia.
Career
Early Career
Hu showed great promise from an early age, and in middle school he was a star player on his county-league's high school team for his hometown, helping that team to win a national championship when he was only 13 years old. He graduated high school ("liceo") two years early to jump-start a university playing career at age 16, and played for the Universidad Graves García Club at Capital Boreal, DB, propelling that formerly obscure team to several national titles. He was actively recruited by many Ardispherian and international teams but opted to finish his degree in Kinesiology first. In 1997, Hu started playing for Deportivo Riograndense in Villa Constitución, DF, but, ambitious and unhappy with the quality of his teammates, he left the black and gold after only 2 years for international prospects.
Move to Karolia
Hu decided to seek better footballing experience elsewhere and like many Ardisphericans, looked to closely-linked Karolia for opportunities. He was signed by (then) ascendant Osu side Admiralitaa in 1999 but at the end of the 2001 season the team was relegated and he moved to first-division Paliiso where in the following season he scored his first goal. Around this time Hu was picked for the Ardisphere national side for the first time.
Säntjana
Hu was soon spotted by top-flight Karolian club Säntjana Linna and persuaded to sign for the start of the 2005-06 season for Kr18 million, initially on a 3-year contract. The Ardispherican's attacking flair alongside proven defensive abilities fitted in well with the club and started nearly every game in his opening domestic season, assisting two goals and helping the club achieve one of the best defensive records in the league. Hu has stayed at the club every since and it is likely he will continue to play in the Karolian capital until his retirement.
Style
Endorsements
Hu has a sponsorship and endorsement deal in Karolia with Finira Auto, which is convenient given he can also help the company market to Ardispherians through their large subsidiary in his home country, FAAR.
Controversy and Personal Life
He is famed for a tempermental style and once in his youth, during a major match, he walked off the field and refused to play, earning his team some fines and his own suspension. Furthermore, he has sometimes vocally criticized the lack of institutional support for football in the Ardisphere, having once said, "Logré lo que logré a pesar de esta mierda de país" ("I achieved what I achieved despite this shit country"), which earned the ire of his fans and the condemnation by the general public as well. He has never really lived down this quote, and recently it was resurrected, much to his dismay, as an internet meme.
In recent years he has moderated substantially, and has become increasingly active in his religion and temple, which is Ardispherian Chogué. He recently attended the opening of the first Chogué temple in Säntjana.
