For the purposes of territory and user management and coordination, the OGF planet has been divided into 6 regions.

Each region is assigned to a different member of the admin team, and within their assigned region, that admin (the "regional manager") has wide discretion in how to subdivide, manage, grant, and vacate territories.

When users request a territory, their request will go to the regional manager for the region in which the territory they've requested is located.

Each regional manager can set up their own rules, and also determine a date for starting the territory application process, while they put in place new concepts or work out details of their regional plans.

Regardless of the region in which to apply, to make our life easier, please follow these guidelines whith your message:

  • include the ID of the territory in the subject line of your message, for example Territory request: AR000a.
  • if you don't know which territory you want, and would like us to make a recommendation, write a subject line Territory request: recommendation wanted, and in the message text, tell us about which kind of country you want to develop (language, climate, culture etc).
  • if you are applying for a territory which you claimed before between October 2018 and now, please include the date of your first application in the message body.
  • please don't bother to apply for a territory between now and the region's advertised start date. The regional manager will be free to disregard that message, and it will not establish any kind of precedence whatsoever. Moreover, the territory you're applying for might have its shape changed or get split up, so it might not even exist anymore when the start date is reached.

Antarephia

The current regional manager is: Thilo (please send queries about territories to the admin inbox)

Start date

Territory applications for this region will be accepted starting February 23, 2019.

Rules for new users' first territories

New users may request their first territory after 7 days of mapping in one of the free-for-all territories. It will be granted "no questions asked" provided

  • the user has no history of rule-breaking (vandalism, sockpuppeting, etc.)
  • the territory being requested is classified as "beginner" (see the pop-ups on the OGF:Territories overview map) - these are generally smaller than 10000 sq km in size

For more advanced territories, please write a short text describing your plans.

Rules for exchanging, upsizing, or downsizing territories

There are no special rules for exchanging, upsizing or downsizing territories. Send a request to admin naming your current territory and what you'd like to do. If you want to exchange for a territory in a different admin region, simply apply for the new territory with the other regional manager (at that region's rules, of course). Your ownership of the old territory will happen once that process is completed.

Rules for additional territories

Additional territories are held to strict standard. Currently mapped territory must be at least 40% 'full' and show evidence of verisimilitude, completeness, and creativity. These are admittedly subjective standards. Also, I expect to see a project plan and some sketches of your plans for the new territory.

Rules for purge of owned territories

Users who are inactive for more than 3 months will receive a message asking about their future plans. While waiting for a reply, the territory will be "marked for withdrawal", and a deadline will be specified, after which ownership will be revoked.

Wide latitude will be granted for leaves-of-absence in the event these are negotiated ahead of time.

North Archanta

The current regional manager is: wangi (please send queries about territories to the admin inbox, being sure to name the territory by its OGF:id, e.g. AR000a).

North Archanta includes territories with ogf:id of AR001-021, 023-026, 031, 035-038, 047, 052, 052a, 054, 058-059f, 061-062, 064-107, 330-336 and 900-902. All relations also have a property of is_in:continent=North Archanta.

Start date

Territory applications for this region will be accepted starting 21 February 2019.

Rules for new users' first territories

New users may request their first territory after building up experience on OGF, and is subject to the following points:

  1. No history of rule-breaking
  2. Users may be asked to undertake a project to demonstrate their readiness to take on the territory
  3. Outline a plan for the territory, appropriate for the continent (similar to Africa) and neighbouring territories.
  4. No other territory request in process

For transparency, the status of applications will be tracked on OGF:North Archanta.

Rules for exchanging, upsizing, or downsizing territories

There are no special rules for exchanging, upsizing or downsizing territories. Send a request to admin describing the change you would like and this will be handled on a case by case basis.

Rules for additional territories

Additional territories are held to strict standard. Currently mapped territory must be at least 50% 'full' and show evidence of verisimilitude, completeness, and creativity. Likewise there should be a well considered plan for the requested territory.

Rules for purge of owned territories

Users who are inactive for more than 3 months will be reminded, and after 6 months the territory will be made available to other users.

If users are not making visible progress on existing territory, and/or cannot provide a long-term plan, they may be asked to downsize, either by subdividing their territory and abandoning part, or by moving to a new, smaller territory.

Wide latitude will be granted for leaves-of-absence in the event these are negotiated ahead of time.

Inactivity and leaves of absence will be tracked on OGF:North Archanta.

South Archanta

The current regional manager is: Luciano (please send queries about territories to the admin inbox, being sure to name the territory by its OGF:id, e.g. AR000a).

Rules for new users' first territories

New users may request their first territory immediately, and it will be granted "no questions asked" provided

  • a) the user has no history of rule-breaking (vandalism, sockpuppeting, etc.)
  • b) the territory being requested is classified as "beginner" (see the pop-ups on the OGF:Territories overview map - picture at right); these are generally smaller than 10000 sq km in size
  • c) the user is only clearly requesting one (1) territory - this rule exists because there is a frequent problem of users requesting multiple territories before admin has a time to respond. Await your response patiently.

Rules for exchanging, upsizing, or downsizing territories

There are no special rules for exchanging, upsizing or downsizing territories. Send a request to admin naming your current territory and what you'd like to do. If you want to exchange for a different region, you simply abandon your current territory and work out the new territory with the other regional manager.

Rules for additional territories

Additional territories are held to strict standard. Currently mapped territory must be at least 50% 'full' and show evidence of verisimilitude, completeness, and creativity. These are admittedly subjective standards. We can discuss. I expect to see a project plan (at least 1000 words) and some sketches of your plans for the new territory.

Rules for purge of owned territories

Users who are inactive for more than 3 months will be reminded of their possession. Users who are inactive for more than 6 months will be evicted.

Tarephia

The current regional manager is: BMSOUZA (please send queries about territories to the admin inbox, being sure to name the territory by its OGF:id, e.g. TA000a)

Start date

Territory applications for this region will be accepted starting February 22, 2019

Rules for new users' first territories

  • Have in mind the climate in Tarephia is something like Africa and Latin America. But it does not mean you can create a snowy territory based in snowy Kilimandjaro, hehehe. Sub Tropical, Wet Tropical, Dry Tropical, things like this, only.
  • Please, when asking for a territory, explain your ideas: history, culture, language, landcover, as much details as possible. This way, the admins can help you with suggestions where your country can fit well in Tarephia

Rules for exchanging, upsizing, or downsizing territories

  • Please, send a message explaining why. The continental coordinator will be happy to talk about it.

Rules for additional territories

  • Usually this option is open only to advanced users, but we can talk.
  • Your first territory needs at least 50% 'full' mapped and show evidence of verisimilitude, completeness, and creativity.

Rules for purge of owned territories

  • Users who are inactive for more than 3 months will be reminded of their possession. Users who are inactive for more than 6 months will be evicted.
  • Users who are not making visible progress on existing territory, may be asked to downsize, either by subdividing their territory and abandoning part, or by moving to a new, smaller territory.

East Uletha

The current regional manager is: Sarepava (please send queries about territories to the admin inbox)

Start date

Territory applications for this region will be accepted starting March 7, 2019.

Rules for new users' first territories

  • At least 10 days' and/or 4000 objects's worth of mapping in open territories that includes both rural and urban mapping.
  • No history of vandalism, sockpuppetry, or offensive content on this site.
  • Presentation of a plan setting out the main characteristics of the territory. This should as a minimum state the general topography and landscape style of the country(s), approximate population and balance of rural/urban area, any intentions regarding language and culture, drive side, general political system. Dividing the territory into more than one smaller state (or creating a microstate within a larger state) is permitted but the above must be submitted for all nations.
  • Extreme detail in the above is not required, but it will help your application if the proposal seems realistic, and presents a unique culture and/or landscape that would enhance the OGF planet. East Uletha is broadly similar to Eurasia in climate and culture (ie steppe, tundra, alpine, maritime, fjord, moorland, wetland, broadleaved and coniferous forests), so proposals based on RW European or Central Asian countries are more likely to be successful. However there is no need to specify a particular RW nation to base your territory on.

Rules for exchanging, upsizing, or downsizing territories

These will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the admin. Quality and quantity of mapping may be taken into account.

Rules for additional territories

Again, these will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the admin. However as a principle a significant amount of the first territory must be mapped or sketched out with a demonstrated intention continue, and a compelling case should be presented for the development of another.

Rules for purge of owned territories

Users who are inactive for more than 3 months will receive a reminder about participation. It is permissible to request a hiatus provided this is done in advance but an approximate period of time for this should be specified at the time. The quantity and quality of mapping will be taken into account in any review of a user's claim to continue hold a territory.

West Uletha

The current regional manager is: stjur (please send queries about territories to the admin inbox)

Start date

Territory applications for this region will be accepted starting March 7, 2019.

Rules for requesting territories

Users can request territories in West Uletha if they meet the following criteria:

  • The user has no history of rule-breaking (vandalism, sockpuppeting, etc.);
  • The user plans on basing his mapping on European or Middle Eastern cultures (or, in special cases, has created an isolated culture which would fit into the cultural landscape of Western Uletha);
  • For new users: The user has mapped for at least 7 days on a blue territory of his choice to showcase his mapping style and skill.

When requesting a territory, the message should include a short description of language, culture and preferred climate of the territory - optionally OGF codes (e.g. UL000a) of territories which would come under consideration. Based on this information, you'll be either assigned a territory in West Uletha or redirected to another region of the OGF world.

Rules for additional territories

For additional territory requests, you generally must present a realistic, original and contiguous zone of high detail in each territory you own, covering 10% of your territory's area. For more information see OGF:Requesting more territory.

Rules for exchanging, upsizing, or downsizing territories

If you want to exchange your territory or move it to Western Uletha, as well as within the continent, you need to follow the instructions given in the territory request segment above.

If you want to exchange your territory or move it away from Western Uletha, contact the admin responsible for the area you want to move to. They will provide you with information on how to proceed.

Upsizing territories in Western Uletha generally works under the same rules as additional territory requesting, see the segment above.

Downsizing territories does not have any requirements except the approval of the regional manager.

Rules for purge of owned territories

Users inactive for 5 months will be reminded of their possession. If they remain inactive for one more month, they will be evicted.

Users with territories in very requested or active areas who are not making visible progress might be asked to either downsize their territory or move to a different location.
